Where I am at: Spring 2013

Lately I have been exploring an overly decorated surface.
I have been carving and using impressions to create linear patterns on my pots.

Here are some of the first examples.
I really like the geometry in this pattern.  I have been trying to replicate it more lately.
I love this knob.  It was thrown separate and is hollow.  It completely fills my hand when I grab the lid.
Here is the pot.  it is the size of a large cookie jar, and I love the angles
This is what it started out as.  it is a nice pot, but I wanted it to become something really noteworthy and "special".
Doing Pitcher demos for my advanced class.  This is a 2 quart pitcher.  The decorations were made using impressions, i love the inside because you can see the process, and it makes the clay seem alive.
This is a one quart sized pitcher that I carved linear elements into.  I really like the proportions, but wish I had left the form change in the "plain" area smoother.
This is a slab-built box that I pre-carved.  8X5 inches.  I'll be interested to see if the carving exasterbates any cracking or warping.
This is the beginning of hopefully me documenting the work I am doing.  This should be good for me.

I am hoping to put up a separate page that links to finished work.
